Hey /tech/, normally I'm pretty computer literate but I'm stumped by what's going on with my computer right now. I was hoping I could pick the board's collective brain.
Turning on the computer, the motherboard reports it detects everything perfectly well, but Windows doesn't load up at all, and I get taken to a *WINDOWS ERROR RECOVERY* screen which gives me the option to boot normally or in safe mode (no "last good configuration"). Either one produces nothing, and takes me back to that screen after a few seconds.
Booting from the install CD gives me a progress bar telling me Windows is preparing files for a few seconds, then a completely blank screen (monitor shows it's getting no input). It hangs on the blank screen forever.
My guess is it's some kind of hardware failure, but I don't know how to tell what component failed.
I have this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135059
This CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115052
And this hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148136
Videocard is a 5770.
Any tips or stories of similar problems would be appreciated.
