So I just bought an Iphone 3GS 32GB from this guy off Kijiji for $350 CAD. Before he sold it he backed up everything on the phone (apparently 22GB worth of stuff). He did a "reset" on the phone but that apparently wiped the entire phone so after 2 days he failed to jailbreak it back to functioning order for me. I bought it anyways off of him to see if I could get it working any better because I'd be jailbreaking it to at least 4.x firmware anyways.
The phone was stuck on a Sn0wbreeze logo when I got it. He tried to jailbreak to 3.x firmware or some sort. He mentioned that the phone was originally a Fido Iphone. I sat there watching him trying to get it to the springboard or at least a menu of some sort but nope it was stuck on that logo. He was running Greenpoison desperately trying to get it to 'jailbreak' but it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. So I tried to put it into my computer when I got home and I thought I could restore it to 4.0.1 firmware I downloaded, but I got an error (3194). I looked it up and I think it means I basically can't downgrade/upgrade any 'unsigned' firmwares. I need some SHSH blobs which I don't have.
I did an official 4.2 restore through Itunes and now it's asking me to activate my phone with proper SIM card which I don't have. It's stuck on emergency call. What can I do from here? Jailbreak it with redsn0w?
Please help me <3 this was a gift for myself for christmas. If worst comes to worst I can call or email the guy back and ask for my money back.
EDIT: thought i'd like to mention i'm trying to get my phone to work on my Rogers Pay As U Go plan (1000 texts / $10 worth of calling)
