I just bought a Silverstone FP32 front panel for my PC. I bought it for the 4 USB ports, but it also has microphone and headphone connectors that are both AZALIA and AC'97 compatible.
I hooked the connector to my mobo (Asus P5QL-E), and I'm not getting any sound.
I more or less expected this result because I'm not using the on board audio, I've got a SB Audigy 2 ZS (however hope springs eternal and all that).
None of the Audigy's pins, as far as I can see, match up with an AZALIA style connector. Is there any way to get the sound to come through the mobo's audio connector to that front panel, without enabling on board audio?
Barring that, would I be able to pull the wires from the front panel's connector and hook them individually to the pins on one of the connectors on the Audigy 2?
tl/dr: I want to be able to use the headphone jack on the front panel without enabling the on board audio, but I don't think I can hook it to my Audigy.
