new comp for sound

guys, I have this friend who is trying to get into some kind of pro audio field. He inherited a bunch of equipment ranging from 60s to mid 90s manufacture. As his computer literate friend he has come to me asking to produce a new build for him, problem is, he wants some of these old MIDI keyboards to work with it, and I don't find a modern win7 x64 compatible Creative sound card with MIDI on it. But it HAS to be a creative card because he faps over the sound patches(?) that come with them. I'm not so much into music equipment, but don't modern keyboards come with USB now? I think he might try to say he doesn't want/can't do a new USB keyboard, as he got a USB record player to digitize his record collection and complained that it sounded better to go through the L+R analog channels instead.

TL;DR: Can I get a modern sound card to work on a modern windows with MIDI?
If not creative; how do they compare?
If not at all; basically tell me what the ultimatum is here.
