I have a hard time understanding why 360's shit out so quickly. I've had laptops for 6+ years working fine, just as the day I had them. Obviously 360 is in essence a computer, so if manufacturers can make long lasting, resilient laptops and towers then what the fuck are they doing making these SHITTY ass consoles that poop in 2 months. I smell money hungry conspiracy. I bet Bill Gates is on some mountain somewhere, laughing at us all.

just wondering, but about how difficult, and how much will it cost to build a relatively cheap computer? never tried before in my life, and it seems fairly entertaining. also then id have a computer.
Xboxs have hardware constantly under the pump processing circa 720p games. Cheap internal parts and lead free solder in a fairly small space are a recipe for disaster. Compare a 360rrp to a decent laptop they are fucking shit. Damn though I miss my xbox 1 fucker was bullet proof

^ and by under the pump I mean compared to say a regular laptop which would Spend a lot of time idle , checking email or browsing 4chan. Push a laptop hard and it starts to cook but yeah xbox 360's should In theory be as resilient

You can fix an Xbox with 3 red rings. if it has 4 red rings you're better off sending it back to Microsoft if you can.
They shit out so quickly because some people don't know what a can of compressed air is. they fill up with caked-on dust rather quickly, which heats up the heatsinks enough that the solder enough to melt them off. if you have it upright, this can lead to the thermal compound melting down the side of the CPU leading to failure of hardware while such is still gooped up on it.
for this, pop it open using instructions from like 360fixit.com or some other site and fix it yourself. if you have a heat gun, even better. I had to help clean some shit thermal compound on such a system just yesterday... Arctic Silver ArctiClean is recommended for removal since Rubbing Alcohol proves to be ineffective. for reapplication of a thermal compound, either use Arctic Silver 5, Antec Formula 5 (AS5 Rebranded) or Radioshack Catalog #276-1372, which is Silicone-based but does a kickass job of thermal transfer.
