Semi-n00b here, posting because hopefully this board will be more helpful than /g/
my laptop has been very slow lately. I suspect it's a virus/spyware/etc.
What should I do to get it back to normal speed? I can follow most directions, provided they're good ones. I've looked into a few things online but none of them seemed to work...

PS I can look up and follow internet guides all day long, but I really need advice as to what's the best or most reliable option. Unfortunately I don't have a few hundred dollars to either buy a new laptop or take it to the computer repair place down the street.

/g/ didn't help you because you asked a stupid fucking question. /g/ isn't tech support for technology illiterate, but /tech/ is.
Do you have alot of shit starting up? Did you install Norton? Did you open alot of email attachments, use Limewire to download Lost - Episode 01.exe? Do you have 256MB RAM and expect to be posting here with Crysis running in the background?

I'd say you're alot less than Semi-n00b if you consider this. Your experience is at my mom's level.
