On Windows 7 I uninstalled a program from my computer to update to a newer edition. I downloaded an updated copy to install on my computer but it says it refuses to add the program until the older version is uninstalled. The program is GONE from my harddrive but still shows up in my control panels. When I try to uninstall it I get the message that uninstall.isu is missing so uninstallation will not continue. How do I get windows to recognize that this program is already gone so I can update to a newer release? I'm baffled.

Remove all references to the program in the registry. Be sure to not fuck something up.
Also, don't be a faggot the next time. Run the uninstaller when getting rid of a program.

I DID RUN THE UNINSTALLER! That's why I'm confused ... oh god I don't get what's going on. I'll google registry so I'll figure out what that means so I can remove something from it. It's a 10 year old vaporware game so I assume its compatibility with 7 is in question.
