hard drive data dump

I'm looking for some hardware or software that can do a raw data dump of a hard drive to a log to be examined.
Can anyone direct me to any such device or software?

Just to be clear I am talking "LOW LEVEL"!! data dump.

uh, you could try some of the "LOL FORENSICS" Linux Live CDs.  They talk about forensic image dumps, and carving, and stuff like that.

"LOWLEVEL"!! doesn't really mean anything on disc drives in 2010.  There's so much stuff between you an the platters now.

What kind of thing did you want to do?
