Like all Linux distros, it has its strong and weak points. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. Wikipedia is your friend.

It's not worth it. It's a GNU/Linux that you compile everything on. It'll take days, you'll get dependency hell, etc etc. But, if you used the right switches and options you'll get an install that is optimised for your machine. Is the resulting few seconds saved on boot worth the twelve hour compile time? Not to most people.
