So I had my laptop plugged in without a surge protector and it got fried, the hard drive has bad sectors on it now. I've tried reformatting and it gets to 99% and says nope cant do it bad sectors. A friend of mine suggested spinrite so I got it and now it's working on the hard drive. The only thing is it's going really really slow like 1% a day slow, it got up to 38% and it started fixing bad sectors. Is there any better way of doing this? I'm just going to reformat anyways so is there a good setting to use for this? I'm using the "locate surface defects" one.
If any of you could help I would be very grateful.
