DVD on PS2

So, I'm thinking of buying a PS2 so I can play some of my old favorite games, but how well does it play DVDs? I've heard its DVD player isn't worth shit, and that makes me sad :(

The PS2 unit plays DVDs. You can watch DVDs on it. The DVDs usually have visual information encoded on them, accessible through a televisual unit attached to the PS2 unit during DVD playback. The PS2 unit also allows sound to be played through audio monitors attached to it. The sound may be on a DVD, as a soundtrack or otherwise. Control of DVD playback is achieved by pressing buttons on controllers attached to the PS2 unit. Different buttons correspond to different actions during DVD playback on the unit.

The only major problem is that the volume tends to be extra low for some reason. If you can hook up your PS2 to your TV with Component (NOT RGB) cables then it will make for a great DVD player.

Mine does fine. It is one of those new slim ones.

Yeah, the slim ones work fine for DVD's.
I wish someone would release a live CD that could run on that fucker, it has an ethernet port built in.
