I have a PHP script that loops as it reads off rows from an SQL table and echo()s them all out. However, after reading a ton of lines from my SQL table and subsequently outputting them, the source ends up looking like an unintelligible wall of text.
I want to know if there's a shorthand character/code/anything to make line breaks in the actual source code, as opposed to the page the user sees; this is mostly for my own troubleshooting purposes. Anyone know something I can use? The answer to this may be really easy, I feel kinda stupid asking. But I figure the best way to learn is to ask.

depends on the system, maybe the language too. On *nix systems I'm able to do something like:

in source code \n will work, but on windows you need \r\n i think or notepad++
