HDTV Goes Black For A Second Then Fine

I just hooked up a Samsung PN42A450 and when the image gets too bright it will go black just for a second, sometimes sound will go out instead. I currently have everything hooked up through a selector using component cables.

The cables are Monster or something like that. I've read on what little I could find on google that it could be the cables. Does Anon have any pro-tips?

lol monster cables. they are no better than the generic cables you can buy at the computer store for $5.
