My computer has shit the bed.

I'm having an issue with my internet connectivity. Internet Explorer is currently the only application that can see the connection. Firefox doesn't even try to load webpages, mIRC says "unable to create socket", Steam can't connect, etc.

It all started when there was a brownout yesterday and my computer powered off.

well , try downloading and installing avast, it will help you out. maybe u got a virus . i wouldnt be Suprised.

Sounds like you need a new motherboard.

sounds like you got a virus that is redirecting everything. Do a AV scan.
