Cameras

I want to make movies.  It would be my ideal occupation.  However, I can not figure out what sort of camera I should buy.  I am not looking to make Hollywood calibur films (I mean in video quality, not story...it wouldn't take much to remake a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey) but I do need something that is functional.  Here's the delimma:

No matter where I look and what cameras I look in to, I can not find any details on if it films well at night.  What is the ideal camera for an ideal night shot (with limited lighting)?

Seriously, I've got nothing.
