I've been trying to install Gentoo (amd64), and I can't get make.conf to appear. I download the stage3 tarball and the portage-latest snapshot and extract them exactly like the Gentoo Handbook says to (yes, I double-checked that first, you fags). /etc/make.conf and /etc.make.conf.example are totally absent. How do I get past this?
