Laptop as workstation?

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-06 15:36

Hello /tech/ I tried asking this in /g/ but I got no replies. My only question is; does anyone use a laptop as their main box? If so, do you use any docks as accessories for working at a desk.

opinions welcomed.

Yes and no

Docks are okay - but really not nessary as long as your laptop has a CD drive at least (some tablets dont)

I do have an extra monitor which I find super usefull when doing assignments since I'm in college. Otherwise, laptop is completely useable. I mean since I'm in college I dont really have time to game that much anymore... so that sux.

I have been using a 12" PowerBook for my main machine for five years now.  You get used to it in so far as you can.  As far as I'm concerned the primary reason to use a desktop these days is screen real estate.

The only kind of dock I would use is just a simple USB hub, but I don't use USB enough to even bother with it.
