Basic hardware question

hay guys.

I think the power supply on my computer might have died because its not turning on. I want to siwtch my firewire HD out of the old one into my new one so i can allay my fears about it having been melted, but i cant get the powercord to reach that far, its tied up in a bunch by plastic binders. I've always wondered about this. Is it safe to clip those binders and have the tangle of cords hanging loose? Should i clip and rebind them after i do this? Are these special computer binders i have to use?

It's safe to clip them, if you're careful not to damage the cables themselves. Always rebind them if they're touching electronics otherwise before you turn the computer back on.
Those exact binders are available pretty much everywhere, but even a regular elastic or twine will do in a pinch.

thanks for that. I'll give it a try. I realise now i may have been wrong about the powersource. When i turn the current on the standby light of my card reader drive switches on, but when i press the on switch the power light comes on but the computer conks out before it can begin to start up.

maybe u should have read the small print instead of taking the word of a high school kid working part time at best buy...

i suggest you start actively harrassing them by making daily calls and threatening to sue.

It won't bring back ur ipod , but hey atleast you made their life miserable!
