AES encryption algorithm
RIPEMD-160 hash algorithm

If you start bruteforcing now you'll be done in a few million years.
You're fucked. There's a reason AES is an international encryption standard.

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-07 6:04

i pretty sure the password only has 19 unique character two of witch are numbers but i could any where from 8 up to 39 character long

does any one know a password generator that will string together dictionary words and add numbers in between them because i found a java-app that that will test passwords from a txt file but i need to make the password list.

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-07 10:26

Do the math, it's:

8 chars? (2^10 + 6^26) * 8P2 = 3,0 * 10^18 passwords
9 chars? (2^10 + 7^26) * 9P2 = 1,3 * 10^20 passwords
...
39 chars? (2^10 + 37^26) * 39P2 = 4,0 * 10^37 passowrds

I might be rusty on my statistics, but sum it up and you have... a fuckton.

1/3   =   0.33333~

#!/usr/bin/python

dic = open('/usr/share/dict/words')
for word1 in dic:
    for word2 in dic:
        for i in range(10, 100):
            print word1 + i + word2

My words file has 98,569 entries, so that will generate a list of 864,710,450,729 potential passwords.
That's assuming you aren't doing anything fancy with capitalisation.

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-07 22:27

Incidentally, that password file will be 16.4 TB, so you may want to do something more clever than just dumping stdout to a file. It shouldn't take more than a few hundred years to crack, though.

Good luck!

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-07 23:32

op here
i know what the numbers are so that would cut the potential passwords down a lot
but how would i change the  script to just insert '36' into the string instread of a ramdom number between 10 and 100

and the characters available are 'abcefghlmnorstuwz' so instead of any words just ones that contain only these characters will be strung together

one more thing is that the password could be up to 10 words (with the word 'the' repeating up to 4 times) long plus the numbers

So that's 1912210! * 9! possible combinations, give or take a handful. Even just calculating that number would take days.

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-18 16:54

Pornhub is your best option. Unless you remember that password..

Name: Anonymous 2008-09-27 19:13

Why don't people get simple math like this?  Haven't they heard the "grains of rice on a chessboard" story?

OP: are you talking about a password or a passphrase?

Imaging a 10 character password, where each letter could be A through Z (26 different chars).

1 char == 26 possibilities
2 chars == 26 * 26 possibilities
3 chars == 26 * 26 * 26 possibilities
ETC

tldr you've lost your porn.

As well as TIME people need to remember POWER.  Each calculation uses some amount of power.

Assign some amount of power to each calculation, then multiply that up for the number of calculations needed to brutus, and you see that most reasonable encryption schemes need ridiculous amounts of power to brute force.

can any one help with a better script?

dude, reverse the encryption system, a few megabytes of encryption can be un-hashed until you get the key, much better than 20 million years of brute force.

Reverse hashing.

Cracking AES successfully involves known plaintext - Truecrypt uses cipher block chaining(CBC) and wraps the blocks in an encryption standard know as XTS, effectively turning the AES into a streamcipher. In your case, there are no weak points that would allow you to know the statistical characteristics of the underlying plaintext, so you would need to know the first 16 bytes to go at the AES properly.

RIPEMD-160 on the other hand almost obsolete for key hashing. This doesn't mean that reversing it is easy since a professional grade program like truecrypt probably salts the hashes - that means it appends a string onto the key while constructing the hash. Find out how the salt is plotted by google or get the Truecrypt source at sourceforge. After knowing exactly where the hash is on the file or block device, proceed extract it using a hexeditor or any other means at your disposal. Use John the Ripper to bruteforce the hash or write your own code for that (RIPEMD codec is widely available).

Too hard, congratulations, you're fucked.

US, UK spies 'crack Web encryption'

WASHINGTON - United States and British intelligence agencies have cracked the encryption that secures a wide rang of online communications, including e-mail, banking transactions and phone conversations, according to newly leaked documents.

   The documents, provided by former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden to The New York Times, non-government organisation ProPublica and The Guardian, suggest that the spy agencies are able to decipher data even with the supposedly secure encryption to make it private.

   The US National Security Agency (NSA), working with its British counterpart, Government Communications Headquarters, accomplished the feat by using supercomputers, court orders and some co-operation from technology companies, the documents said.

   If the reports are accurate, the highly secretive programme would defeat much of the protection that is used to keep data secure and private on the internet, including communications using smart-phones.

   The Guardian report said the two spy agencies had "convert partnerships" with technology firms and Internet providers which allowed the insertion of "secret vulnerabilities - known as backdoors or trapdoors - into commercial encryption software".

   The reports noted that US intelligence officials asked the Times and ProPublica not to publish articles on the subject, fearing it would prompt foreign targets to switch to new forms of encryption or communications that would be harder to collect or read. Investigative journalism group ProPublica said it decided to go ahead with the article because of its importance to the public. Contacted by Agence France-Presse, US intelligence officials had no immediate comment on the reports.

Well, in these day and age... sence not to long ago it was proven that the NSA along with another various countries using spy technology for the purpose of Espionage have/had been cracked, so... basicly anything that is Encrypted these days needs to be used it EXTREME caution even more, sence now that they actually CAN and most likely WILL crack your encryption.

"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."
Seriously... this argument is really not accurate in anyway or form.

Don't change these.
