hey tech, simple question, no hard answers, just opine on me.
i'm looking for a (preferably freeware) anti-virus/adware/spyware that doesn't leave a huge memory footprint or consume all my cpu; also one that doesn't think it's a firewall would be sweet (although i must admit avg's resident scanner was efficient and quiet).
an all-in-one would be nice, but i can do multiple. i'm just looking to keep free as much ram/mem as possible. p.s. i'm aware of ad-aware, it sucks.

If you manage to get a virus/adware/spyware infection on a Linux system, you need more than a scanner.
Every single piece of malware that has made a significant splash in the past decade has relied on idiot users running programs they shouldn't. Don't be an idiot online and you'll never have a problem.
And if you are going to be an idiot, just using Linux should be enough to protect you from yourself.
