Linux newsleecher/utorrent/CCCP equivalents?

I'd like to try out linux this summer, but before I jump in I'd like to know what linux users use to download from usenet/torrents, and what they use to play video.

I watch anime and foreign films, so soft sub support is important for me, and I watch shitty porn so support for wmv/other shitty windows codecs is also important.

OP, if you like soft subs/animu, stick with windows. Linux has absolute SHIT soft sub support. There is no Vobsub equivalent in linux, and there doesn't seem to be one planned in the foreseeable future.
