Linux newsleecher/utorrent/CCCP equivalents?

I'd like to try out linux this summer, but before I jump in I'd like to know what linux users use to download from usenet/torrents, and what they use to play video.

I watch anime and foreign films, so soft sub support is important for me, and I watch shitty porn so support for wmv/other shitty windows codecs is also important.

Stay with Windows. If you don't know the slightest shit about Linux (and you don't, regardless of what you might think) you will hate it within days. Save all of us the hassle.
