Ok, here's the problem, I tried to boot up my PC today and, despite my BIOS settings not having "Boot From CD" as a priority, it's trying to boot from fucking CD, and I don't even have one in the drive. I'm so damned frustrated, I saved my BIOS settings, checked them after I tried to boot again, but the same thing happens.
Boot From CD:
Boot From CD:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
...please help, somebody?

Can you, in fact, test booting from a CD you have lying around?

I booted to the recovery console via CD, and it says that my master boot is either corrupted or non-standard. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

It's alright you jerkoffs, I just reinstalled XP. Thanks for the one attempted helpful question.

For future reference, there are boot sector recovery tools. I'm not sure what there is for Windows-only, but if you happen to use the GRUB bootloader, the Super Grub boot disk, while kind of arcane and text-only, has been very good to me in restoring my MBR after I've managed to fry it (say, by installing Windows *after* Linux -- bad idea).
