in need of assistance

ok so i got a shiny new HP pavillion dv6500, and in the interest of efficiency i removed vista and installed xp. problem is, it's still doesn't recognize the pci device.  I did a little research and discovered that it has something to do with sound.  I've been looking for a while to find a compatable driver, but can't find one.  Anyone out there know where i can get a working version of this driver?  Oh, the device instance id is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_055C&SUBSYS_30CF103&REV_A1\3&2411E6FE&0&38
Also, what are the pros and cons of switching from vista to xp?

Boo Linux and use lspci to find out what audio chip you have. While you're at it, install it on your hard drive and keep it. Also solves your Vista vs XP question.

Now it should work.

Hold L + R and press A, Y, Right, B, X, Down, Y, X, Left, B, A, Up at the main options screen, with the "Start Game" and "DVD Extras" option. Release L + R and a sound will confirm correct code entry. Or put PC-BSD in.
