Computer won't boot... too hot??

I left the computer on today and it was hot as fuck... i couldnt check the temp but it was resetting itself. So i presume it was hot... but now when i turn it on it just sits there idle... it's on but there's no start up.

I check the CPU i don't think it's burnt. What else could it be /tech/? Would a reset of cmos/bios make a difference?

I'm running a P4 2.6 with 1GB DDR2 533 ram on XP on a Gigabyte 945P m/b

funny... i just borrowed my cousin's DDR2 667 and replaced the 553 with those... and it seems to be working fine...

is it possible that RAM had something to do with this?

never mind i dont think its the ram...

apply thermal paste to ram

Buy heatspreaders for your ram. Smell for burnt circuitboard. If you can, try replacing the mobo or proc with a known good one. If all of this does nothing, your power supply may be shot. If that doesn't work, you're inept and missed something.

Instead of thermal paste use semen. Helped for me.

I got this on my old pc, check all the fans are working, if they aren't replace the fans.

If your case is getting really hot checking the PSU (power supply) fan would be a good idea. I had that problem, and that alone caused my comp to freeze.

Surely you've heard of "freezer burn" for something left too long in the freezer section of your fridge?  It's a common event, based on equally common science.  It's too basic to even discuss.  Die.
