XP 32-bit to XP 64-bit

Name: Anonymous 2008-01-07 11:54

So I'm thinking of migrating to Windows XP 64-bit now that I have a 64-bit processor and a nice ProRat trojan which seems to be rootkitted and Wikipedia suggests that the easiest way to get rid of it is to reinstall OS. lol.
What I'm worried about is that Windows doesn't give a shit about your files and settings. Last time I didn't do a clean install it thought it would be a good idea to wipe My Documents so I lost some stuff and now I'd like to know what I should try to move away before doing this. Will the registry be intact?

If your system has been rooted, it's best to delete anything that's not human readable anyways. You can never know what files might be infected with some shit. And do a complete reinstall. Format the fucking system partition. Do not use install files you have on your drive, redownload drivers, install files, everything.

Only save documents, images, music and videos to another partition. Nothing else.
