laptop made of fail

Hey /tech/

Dell Inspiron 5150
2.8 GHz P4, 512 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200
XP Home

When I go to use anything that requires some graphics work (YouTube fullscreen, Diablo II, StarCraft), my fan spins up to full speed and the video/game/whatever gets incredibly choppy. Happens whether or not I'm on AC or battery power. Never overheats enough to force a powerdown or anything.

I use a small desk fan aimed right at the laptop's fan inlet to fight off the problem and it works, but I'm wondering if you guys can suggest anything I can do with the laptop itself. Thanks

Not much. If you make the CPU go 100% for more than a few seconds, it's bound to get hot as shit. Laptops aren't really made for playing games anyway. Get a desktop computer.
