Normal XP Not Working

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-22 22:30

I need some tech support guys. My house lost power while I was out at Thanksgiving dinner, and now my comp won't boot normal XP. It appears to load almost completely, then crashes and restarts. I'm able to run Safe Mode, and already tried a system restore.

I would really like to not have to wipe my drive and start over again.

Also thanks to everyone who actually helps people on this board... More kids are flocking to 4chan nowadays.

Nevar! These are state secrets and are only known to those with security clearance, and then on a need to know basis.

You do realize that reinstalling Windows and your apps takes about two hours while trying to figure out what's wrong might take a whole day or two?

In all honesty, if you prefer finding out what's wrong rather than taking the easy route, you probably already use Linux.

The thing is that it's a bitch trying to find out what's wrong with Windows every time it has a hiccup because it just doesn't provide that many facilities to gather information. And even if you get it running again, you usually have no idea how long you have until the next problem arises. Did that for almost 10 years with Windows now and I've grown tired of it. On linux it's much easier and usually it's worth investing the time because next time you have a good idea what the problem is and how to solve it. On Windows there are often too many unknown variables because it sometimes behaves unpredictably.

Don't change these.
