So I have computer laying around and it's pretty infested with malware, spyware, ect.. So I'm looking to reinstall xp. I tried once and it said that the version on there was a more recent version of xp and wouldn't let me reinstall,so the first thing I thought is to do a reformat of the HD and do it that way, but I thought I should check here just in case there was an easier way.
So any thoughts or ideas or should I got for the format.

Subtle troll is subtle.
How do you want to get rid of the malware if you don't format?
OP is one of those people we dont't want to use linux.

If you're so concerned about bragging rights, just start telling people you use Gentoo and start looking down on Ubuntu users.
Or switch to BSD.

Gentoo is for nerdfags with no life. Ubantoo / Kubantoo is for people who want a good OS without having to spend 2 weeks compiling/configuring it.
And Netcraft confirms: BSD is dying.

No shit. But Ubuntu's ease of use means that it's accessible to average users as well, so if you want bragging rights, you'll have to avoid it.
Can't have your cake and eat it too.

If you brag about using Gentoo, you're a nerdfag and no one cares. But kubuntu still gives you bragging rights over winfags.

Why? Because you managed to install an operating system without knowing shit about it? How is that different from Windows?

Ubuntu is a nigger word meaning "Humanity to Others", or, alternately, "chikinz".

Windows is a word meaning "transparent bit of wall", but that doesn't mean anything either.
