Destroying HDCP

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-25 2:24 ID:a6D7p6aS

When HDCP goes into full force, it won't really make much difference will it?

After all, most DVD players (and in the future hopefully Blu-Ray Players) have analog component video outputs (which are HD) and 5.1 analog audio outputs.

So much for content protection, right?

Uh... yes. That's why as long as you can hear/see it, you'll always be able to copy shit. If you're OK with analogue copies that is.

High Definition. HDCP degrades insecure connections to standard definition thus depriving you of the HD equipment that you've paid for.

Few DVD players (not most) will upscale over component.  This is a manufacturer-imposed limitation.  Same applies to the HD disc formats.
