speed of light

theoretically if you were traveling backwards at the speed of light holding a laser would the light be stationary?

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-02 2:11 ID:t5NUSje3

no it would look like a cunt now stfu

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-02 5:19 ID:BeGWoxC0

>>1 yeah, i think so.

The time and the space around you would be "freezing".

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-02 8:25 ID:4lIfXXIR

>>1
No. Cos you're moving backwards.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-02 15:10 ID:BeGWoxC0

If you're moving at the speed of light pointing a laser behind you, your speed cancels out the laser's.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-02 15:39 ID:BeGWoxC0

OMG moving at the speed of light with objects which have inertia even at v = 0 .............

The time and space would freeze!

The laser would leave a "tracer" of where it had been. So from your perspective of moving backwards you would see it moving away from you.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-03 7:18 ID:ShDACKom

>>8
also any witnessing the event and not travelling at the speed of light would see the laser extend from your initial starting point and travel in the direction you are.

All about perspective.

however fast you go light always travels at the same speed nubs

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-05 13:26 ID:qME4Lt9o

light can be slowed down in weird situations

He is, but the fact that he is right is what raises the curiosity of the original question.

SO light does travel in water at the same speed, huh?

Nub! GTFO!

HOLY SHIT THIS IS FUCKING HURTING ME

IT WILL TRAVEL AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT

BECAUSE IT'S FUCKING LIGHT

THAT'S WHAT IT DOES

FOUNDATION OF RELATIVITY

^^but for it to go the speed of light it would have to go twice the speed of light, if that makes sense. Because you're going the speed of light in the first place.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-07 4:10 ID:2yR6m2ef

>>22 no it wouldn't because if you are in a massive graviational field or travelling near light speed then your time gets distorted, you know?*

Other people who aren't moving* would see you moving more slowly than normal - in slow motion (I don't mean how fast you are moving through space, I mean how fast you blink, how fast your heart beats, how fast you can move your arms etc). Because of this you would see the people who aren't moving in fast forward, and the speed of light would still be moving at the speed of light.

I'm talking about when you travel near the speed of light here because I'm not totally confident on what would happen at or above the speed of light.

* = too lazy to describe these more correctly.

This thread has AIDS!

FULL of nobrainers showing their great education!

GTFO now.

No, it would travel at the speed of light from your perspective. That's

RELATIVITY

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-08 6:37 ID:mLJYySYU

Relativity is in relation to energy, not perspective.

Name: Anonymous 2007-09-09 5:05 ID:Z8h10i03

God would come in and destroy you and the LASER.

You can't see me, but I'm facepalming. You might want to read something -- anything -- about special relativity.

Don't change these.
