Dell's spotty stocking of reliable components is something to be taken into account, as well as their strong warranty support. As long as you backup your data to an external drive, there's nothing terrible that can happen to you during the warranty period.

Do NOT get an HP. Cooling system sucks, developed a yellow line on my screen after like 2 months.

You see? That makes my point: suppliers of fault equipment only demand a strong warranty process. Those who don't have a strong warranty process are people that you don't dare buy from.

Most componants come from the same factory no matter the brand name. Foxconn for example had been making parts (connectors etc) for PC's for years before doing their own complete motherboards.
What I'm saying is, it won't matter. Go for bang for buck and you won't go wrong. Believe in the hype and you're fucked.
