I need a cheap motherboard for an intel pentium 4 2.6ghz processor, I have everything I need for the board, I was thinking of getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121046 can anyone reccomend better? Im not very good with computers so I dont know if it will be compatible and the only thing I know is that it is a pentium 4 2.6 processor that was in an HP machine. Could anyone give me some advice here?

is there one you can reccomend? im trying to keep it under 100 dollars but if there is one that is good that is over 100 tell me about it. also how do you know i need a 478 board?

Now if you'd said P4 D or Duo Core then I'd say 775 socket.

damn, thanks man, ive never been able to get a decent computer. my old one was fine but then the motherboard decent to fuck itsself. I was looking at the ASUS one previously, i just need one that works and has AGP. i want to get a 256mb AGP video card since ive been using a terrible 128mb PCI card. whats wrong with VIA chipsets?

I forgot to mention in this post i dont know what exactly the process is, im about 90% sure its 2.6 and just a pentium 4. is there anyway i can tell just from the chip?

No, you need a new processor. Also, there ARE 775 P4's. Either way, give the P4 to a homeless person who needs a space heater, and get a Core2.
