Halp me find parts. :D

Name: ee™ 2007-04-10 15:01 ID:TBQifRY1

I'm thinking about building another computer, so I need to find good parts for one. At a budget of $1,500, what parts would you all suggest?

Lurk sites like anandtech, arsethechnica, tomshardware, hardocp. Even if there is bias, getting more opinions will generally give you a good idea of what's good. Then it is a matter of of going to newegg or ZZF and seeing what you can afford.

>>"what [...] would you all suggest?"

I suggest you go somewhere else to brag about your goldz. NO ONE CARES. NOT EVEN JESUS.

I bet you're that same guy who was asking about the RAM. That guy was a total retard and I'm noticing some similarities between you two.

If you don't know what to get, you don't know enough about the components to be handling them.

agreed. if you dont know what parts you need to begin with just stick to propriety (dell, hp, compaq, etc) pc's.

you have to WANT to learn. no one can just tell you.

gateway, bitch.

i worked at that best buy hellhole, but the one protip i took away from that place was that the gateways never came back fro repairs.

1. Not bragging about my "goldz", I'm just declaring a budget I can't go over when I buy the parts.
2. It's too obvious I'm the same person if I used the exact same name. Of course I'd be similar to myself.
3. If I said I'd built a computer before, why wouldn't I know how to build one now?

>>everyone else
I'm not really looking for a prebuilt, because I don't like the specs of some of them. The computers at the electronics store around here sucks..

Thanks, I'll look into that. :)

lol.

I seriously hope you're trolling and not this retarded.

"Hey guys, I just want to let you all know, I'm about to spend $1500 on a computer. I have no idea what I'm going to spend it on and if I knew anything, I would know that I don't have to spend that much on a computer to get similar performance, unless I want the components made out of plutonium. And I do, because that's a good thing, right? Right, guys?"

Fixed.

I didn't say I was going to spend $1,500... lol why's everyone so concerned with money?

"zomg we gon troll u cuz u has a budjet uf 1500 un camputar partz n we dont :("

anyway, nevermind, I'll just look for stuff myself. I forgot you can't post anything on 4chan without getting a good trolling from some asshole. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Seriously dude. Best thing to look at would be the crappy deals from local retailers (not superstores - the little guys) and if you dont like a part or think it's crap then just replace it with your choice. take your revised list to them after that.

basics:
case
motherboard
psu
cpu
ram
hdd/fdd/optical
vid card
sound card
keyboard
mouse
monitor

fill in as needed.

I'm sorry, I will just never believe you when you say you have knowledge of building computers if you have to ask other people:

1. If one kind of (obviously better) RAM is better than the kind you have currently, and
2. What parts you should get.

It is incomprehensible that you could have ever built a computer before and had it have any kind of functionality. I'm pretty sure you just read a book called "PCs for Dummies" or the equally good, yet less popular "How to Build a PC That Will Impress Stupid People But Make People Who Know Anything About It Laugh At You For the Rest Of Your Life". I swear to god, I could swear I know you.

Answer me these three questions:

1. Can Macs use any RAM besides PC100?
2. Was there a white tunic in one of the Zelda games?
3. Did a hotel chain in southern Louisiana license their own handheld version of Legend of Zelda that you could play whenever you booked a room there?

If you answer these questions correctly, I'll know you're completely full of shit.

Made of plutonium? I like playing modern games, having reliable parts, and an upgrade path. Thanks for trying though.

You should post in /comp/ either way i don't know how much components cost in america but heres some tips.

Seagate make the best, longest lasting hard drives.
Corsair ram is the best quality, got for 6400 to get the best value for money.
Intel make the best dual cores, much better than AMD atm.
look for reviews on each component before you buy.

Don't change these.
