Obsessive waste of money on iPods.

Why do people buy these things anyways? They are overpriced and with every upgrade, you still have the same music player.

1gig iPod Nano costs about 70 dollars. 80gig iPod costs 350 dollars. I'm not seeing the conversion factor here.

Also, I could get a 250gig harddrive for the price of a 1gig iPod nano. Who cares if one is portable, do you even need 80gigs for songs (Protip: You don't).

The nano doesn't have an all metal case. It's plastic at the top and bottom caps. I know, I've got one.

The SanDisk Sansa e250 looks decent and the review are positive, I'll definitely buy that if my ipood ever broke.

For me, the choice was obvious. I was given a free 6gb mini.

A family member just bought a new 80gb iPod. I get her old 6gb one for free. I'm not complaining here.

solution. get chocolate and 1 or 2gb sd memory card to go with it

Metal body (anodized aluminum)
Best capacity-per-volume ratio I have found (volume as in player size)
Decent interface
Lots of third-party support
No DRM required (plays MP3)

the ipod interface is NICE but there are many better eg. zen
third party support --> okay, you've got me there, but you dont need third party support, apple dont want you to have third party support, they want the money for themselves.
pretty much the only drm required player is the zune, which sucks ass.
so basically theres a lesson to be learnt here
you can pick up a better player, cheaper
it will last longer
and not be apple branded, therefore be superior.

I own a Ds with a 2Gb flash drive. 400 songs plus a few books and games is enough.

1. I got an iPod as a gift from my dad or mom or brother or someone, and a pretty much never use it. I understand that it costs a lot to make these things, but for me, it's not worth that much. I do want an iPod enough to pay that much for it.
