I would like to know if A+ specifically is worth the time and expense to get. I've heard conflicting reports that A+ is worthless AND worthwhile, so I dunno.

For what? An extra fraction of inch on your e-penis in easily impressed circles?

Well, to have it on the resume, perhaps? One more official certification can't hurt.
So I guess you think it's worthless then?

Do you actually have a resume which you are using to apply for jobs? In that case, it might be worth it.

if you have no previous experience. no. if you have no formal education. no. if you have both of those, it will only help if your employer is an idiot. It looks good on a resume but dont expect to get a job with it and nothing else.

A+ is deffinetly worth it. You learn so many more in-depth things.
Like IRQs and how exactly a processor works, and intermediate trouble shooting, and basic network topology.
Trust me, there is a lot you don't know if you're not A+ certified. If by some freak accident you happen to be a genius already, then this may be your only chance to get some RL credit for it. Also, many employers require that you be A+ certified.
But I must warn you, don't waste your money on the test unless you are extremely prepared. There are 2 parts, a hardware and a software, and they cover everything from printers to SO-DIMMs. I took a class at my school that would give me some college credit and A+ and Network certification. Luckily, they are paying for my A+ test too.

To be A+ certified you must learn alot of information that is undeniably useless. Because of this, scoring well on an A+ test can be difficult.
I suggest searching the web for A+ practice exams to get a feel for it. Learning the front side bus speed of the IBM 8088 awaits.
