I don't have a DVD drive/burner

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-08 21:30

I know they're hella cheap, but I really have no need for such a drive ATM. Should I just wait for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray or go for DVD now?

Step back and look at what you're asking.

Should you get:

A. The extremely cheap player that plays the format that just about every movie out there is using,

or

B. One of two unproven technologies currently competing for a foothold in the market, of which neither has any kind of selection as far as movies go.

Do not wait. Go to newegg and buy yourself a DVD player.

Just don't go to Best Buy or Circuit City or any of those big chain stores. The stuff they stock is made with shitty components and are pretty much guaranteed to irrevocably fail a month out of warranty.

You can buy drives that are capable of burning DVDs as well as CDs.

That's a hardware issue, though, not a software one. In your case, you're going to need to buy a separate drive.

Don't change these.
