Dead sound card?

Anyway I can test if my sound card is dead? It has suddenly stopped working and there is no longer any sound. All audio settings and drivers in Windows are functional and no changes were made since it stopped working. And this is an 11+ year old Soundblaster 16 we're talking about here, did sound card just become an hero?

I'm amazed it's even still working.  I tried to carry over my old Soundblaster 'live' card to my new PC (and that's only around 8 years old), and all that happened was the BIOS said 'Ancient Card' and wouldn't go near it.
