Weird Google redirects?

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-03 10:37

When I try to visit certain sites, many porn sites in particular, it redirects me to Google with a seemingly unrelated search term.

Just what the fuck is going on? It didn't used to do this, and it doesn't do it on my other computer. I figured it was some spyware nonsense, but after running Spybot and AdAware for the nth time, the problem persists.

It's keeping me from my porn, and that irritates me.

Halp?

That would be a great answer, except that it's made of fail and I use Firefox.

Start > Run
regedit

if u find something suspect, kill it with fire
else, disinstall-reinstall firefox and try again

wtf, are you in canada? (or bell isp)

it's not spyware, someone's been messing with dns, either isp or hax

use Tor or probably any other proxy & the sites should be fine

i cant visit .gov either, can you?

Check your hosts file. It's in your Windows (or WinNT) system32\drivers\etc directory.

that's the first thing i checked, nothing (outside my doing)

usually it redirects to google with a pharmacy search, or it redirects to a fake topsite where every link redirects to fake stuff again (or google)

i think the whole bangbros network is out (hate them anyway)

& ya.. i think canada set up an anti cp list just like BT in england, which of course picks up a bunch of unrelated sites, using proprietary secret algorithms that not even the isps know

the .gov issue is weirder, maybe something messed up in the registry (i remember seeing .gov & maybe .co.uk in there once)

oh well... tor or a proxy make things work as they should

Don't change these.
