shit to VGA

I would liek to hook up some consoles to VGA
preferably the Wii
Can i cut up a vga cable and a component cable hook up the wires and play Wii on my flat screen vga/dvi monitor?
Or is it only possible with a tvcapture card or special adapter like Xbox1 and neox2vga?

you can do the first if you know what to do. otherwise, get an adapter - its less risky.
