Purchasing a PDA

I'm sick of scribbling down messy notes to myself and having to memorize what I need to do for any given day, so I figure I could really benefit from a PDA. At first I wanted something very simple that I could store schedules, memos, addresses, and phone numbers in, so I was actually considering taking a Zire product. But after exploration, I realized that I could certainly do with a tiny devide that stored all of the random reference documents and books I have laying around in digital format so that I don't have to drag around the books themselves, and it'd also be pretty nifty if I could play some good games on it, too (which is one point any Zire product would be severely limited). I was looking to minimize the amount I spent on it, so I was looking for a while at the Tungsten E2, but then the Tungsten T/X, with four times the memory as the E2 plus wireless, caught my eye. The difference between the two was $100, so I was discouraged at first, but the wireless capability made me cream my pants.
So right now I'm looking at the Tungsten T/X for $300. The things I like about it are the large storage space (128 MB) and the Wi-Fi hotness.

Then again, this is the first time I'm buying a PDA, so I'm not even sure that this is a good deal.
Someone who actually knows about this stuff - is there an alternative to the Tungsten E2 or T/X in the same price range that I should be looking at?
Please don't suggest PocketPC's, though. I'm not interested in owning a PocketPC.

Thanks in advance.

I'm also in the same situation, and I just generally need something to take over my 5-6 analog notebooks, and was wondering if the T|X is still worth buying considering it's age - and if there are any better alternatives.

I am ordering my palm TX tomarow, I have been researching it for like two weeks and decided it will work great for me.

Game wise you can run SNES and genesis(and others)games on it through emulation.

As for the price newegg has them for $255, or you can buy it from palm at $300 and get a folding key board for free, and no shipping.

I have had a Z22 for the last 6 months, and a zire 21 for a year before that, I love these things and sadly due to my crazy ADHD am kinda dependent on them.

I used to carry two memo pads with me in my teens to stay originised at school and home.

Hey OP,
I'm in the same situation as you. I just wanted to mention that out of the Tungsten E2 and the Palm TX, I'd probably go for the palm, bigger screern and better looking. I hope more people reply here, I'll be buying the TX next month unless I find something better.
