Noise cancelling earphones?

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-28 18:31

Ok so i want a pair of em but a few questions. Other people cant hear what im listening to no matter how loud the music is? And how  well do they isolate outside earphones. Im looking for nothing too expensive. 100-200 range is the ideal but i can push it over a little bit.

Noise canceling earphones tend to block out the background, monotonous noise, like car/plane engines. They don't do so well at canceling high-pitched, sudden stuff like people talking. They tend to rely on heavy insulation to do that.

So, no. If you're playing your shit loudly people will still be able to hear you; you just won't be able to hear them too well when they ask you to turn your music down.

And how well they isolate outside noises depends on the individual earphone model. Check out what Cnet's reviewed.

I bought some earbud-style noise canceling headphones for about 100$, and brought them on an airplane. They did cancel out nearly all of the engine noise, but were pretty damn uncomfortable. The bud section is larger than normal iPod size phones, and requires you make a sort of suction with your ear to stay put. I'd try out some over-the-ear styles before you go earbud.

Don't change these.
