Opera acting tough on me

When I try to close tabs Opera refuses to close them.
Opening new links works alright but loading pages takes freakin' hours.. I'm now forced to surf firefox to ask you for help, Opera have never done this to me before.
I really like Opera and I don't want to part with this browser..
What can I do?

Opera sucks sure there's an ebuild for opera but it just get dropped to /opt, it's statically linked, and it's CLOSED SOURCE, which means that it is a BINARY package.

backup your settings and do a clean install?

Hmm. Well I did.. and Opera seems to feel a bit better now.
Still, I don't get why Opera would act like this.
