Higurashi Daybreak

I don't get this game running properly.
Only the top-left half of the 2D pictures in the game appear and everything is blinking irregulary. When I get into battle the 3D surroundings are okay, but the 2D graphics are broken in the way described above.
I've tried installing the newest graphic card driver, I've upgraded to DirectX 9.0c, dxdiag says no problems have been found and I've set the system standard language to Japanese.

I'm thankful for any help.

Is the game ancient? might have problems with your drivers/card.

No, it's been released this year.

It could only be the other way round: My card is a GeForce Ti 4200 8xAGP, which is slightly outdated. Though I've yet to hear from such a case. The game basically runs and everything 3D is working without any problems, but the rest of the graphics is seriously broken. :-\

Perhaps you have some other software interfering in the background. Try to kill all useless processes when you play the game

That card is not DX9, and you might need DX9 hardware. If you are on a budget, you could always try picking up a cheap AGP geforce 6600 or x700. If you have enough dough, you could get a 6800 or x800 based card.

I've just tried the game on another PC with on-board grahics and it runs without these errors. I don't think it's related to the cards age or DirectX support.

The problem is somehow resolved, since I've found a PC it works on. Thanks to 2, 4 and 5 for your help.
