Metal detectors

I have a problem. There are metal detectors in my HS and I can't get my cellphone/ipod through. Any suggestions? AND DON'T SAY SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS!

hehe. I like to pick up stuff off the ground. I found a fully functional ps1 with a controller and associated cables once in a bag on the ground.
