USB making laptop crazy

For some reason, whenever a slight tap hits anything plugged into USB, the computer shuts down. Jump drive, ipod, wireless mouse, whatever, it just turns off whenever I plug it in or take it out. Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron and Windows XP Pro SP2. That's all you need to know.

Grounding issue... if it's your front panel USB, check the cable to the mobo, etc.

Or you've got some partly bent pins in the USB port... take a look?
