Freeformat bitrates for MP3s

I want to get a <$100 MP3 player, like a Creative or Sandisk. But from looking at manuals, most of them only support up to 320kbps MP3s. A large amount of my mp3s are freeformat, with bitrates much higher than 320kbps.

They all work on my PSP, though, and that's a fairly low-end mp3 player. Does anyone know which mp3 players will support high bitrate mp3s? Am I just going to have to re-encode a ton of stuff?

Who gives a shit about quality? My time is to valuable to waste re-encoding and playing with shit. Do you recycle your dad's turds into ass-dildos, too? Either tell me which MP3 players support freeformat or STFU.
