the detail sure as heck is lost on a 15 inch, so how big a HDTV should i put my eye on for it to be worth the purchase?

>2 not what i was asking,
>3 yeah, now i just need to find a store with full optimized SD and HD side-by side so i can tell how big a TV is worth HD.
but anyway, general opinion, what's the minimal screen size for HD to be worth something compared to a SD the same size? i'm thinking around 25' inches.

simple question, anyone have a genral idea of about what screen size the difference between high def and standard def starts to show at?
i figure 15 a mere 15 inch display, i'd probably have to have my face pressed against the screen to see how much better the hi-def is overthe plain flatscreen. i'm thinking it doesn't matter so much unless the screen is maybe 25 inches, maybe 30, but that isn't based on anything at all really, since i have fo frame of refrence to begin with.
and any comparative store display is probably gonna skey so that HD looks a lot better than it actually is, and besides, they probably won't be showing comparisons at different size screens anyway.
and yes, i know 1080p is true HD, but i'm not talkig about resolution, i'm talking about PHYSICAL SCREEN SIZE.

depends on:
1. your eyes
2. distance TV is from you
e.g.: I have damned bad eyes, but can instantly recognise HD(720p) from DVD on my 15.4" widescreen laptop.
