Ipod Mini Problem

After attaching an external disposable battery (advertised as being specifically for Ipod) my Ipod mini promptly stopped doing anything.

No response of any sort. No turn on, no screen, nothing.

Any ideas on what might be the cause, and what to do?

Have you tried pressing Menu and Select simultaneously for about 6 seconds?
