really small PC LCD display

I'm on a mission, /tech/. Us guys over here in new england recently looted some intensely small PC motherboards with everything integrated except the PSU. We're talking 5"x4" in total length and they have mini IDE controllers and a Compact Flash type 2 card slot. They're running 128mb of PC100 ram, are at LEAST 300mhz, and have heat sinks that require minimal airflow (no need for onboard fans). My best friend and I recently purchased new vehicles, and we're going to turn these things into something cool and stick them in our gloveboxes.

We need some kind of monitor to use with them though. They have onboard VGA to standard vga output. We tried looting a display from an old busted out Compaq I-paq but it's an LVDS standard and you can't convert that shit without a controller.

Any ideas?

VGA to RCA/S-Video converter, then hook it up to one of those small portable DVD players that accept video input? It's gonna be barely readable, but fine for videos and pictures. Best I can think of that doesn't require a specific controller.

look into oled displays. Though that might be out of your price range.

Throwout cash register displays, from supermarkets and the like. I've seen them a few times in junk stores for around 10 dollars. Probably around 8 to 10 inches in size. Most stores seem to have them hooked up to old IMB or Compaq desktops, so I'd imagine they wouldn't have any strange connections.

Don't change these.
